Thought Life

What you believe about the world determines the way you live your life! -AW Tozer
What you believe about yourself defines and shapes all of your relationships! - John Kane
Thoughts are the fuel of your soul. When you have negative beliefs about yourself, compulsive addictive cravings, fear filled thoughts, trauma memories, unforgiveness, or any other kind of obsessive or compulsive thoughts, they derail your relationships, your well being, and the trajectory of your life. At Growth and Change Counseling you will learn how to take control and transform your thought life into a life fulfilling world view that will enable you to experience fulfilling and healthy relationships, an authentic view of self, and greater satisfaction in your life.

Purpose

Happiness is a very poor measurement of a well lived life. Satisfaction and fulfillment are much better measurements of a well lived life. There are many people who have suffered greatly and yet have turned life into a beautiful tapestry. They might not tell you they are happy, but they will tell you they are satisfied and fulfilled.
Keep in mind, meaningless does not come from being tired of pain, it comes from being tired of pleasure. - Ravi Z

Relationships

You are a relational being, wired for healthy relationship. The more relationally healthy people are, the less anxious, addicted, and depressed they are. Have you noticed that anxious, depressed, and addicted people isolate? Because they are pulling away from relationships, it hurts too much, its easier. And they get more mentally unwell, because our mental health problems are rooted in the breakdown of our relationships or the lack of relational intelligence.
– John Kane

Therapy is in my blood; it’s the way I can help and love people. As a therapist in Campbell, CA, I’ve witnessed human suffering all around me since I was young. These experiences have shaped my life, challenging me to explore the human experience and how to help people live healthy, fulfilled, and godly lives. My diverse interests in counseling, psychology, philosophy, wilderness therapy, theology, and experiential living contribute to my unique approach to coaching and therapy in Campbell.

Relationships are one of the most important aspects of my life. I treasure my relationship with God, with my wife, and my kids. I’ve come to realize that challenges in relationships are at the center of most of our problems, whether it be anxiety, depression, family conflicts, or marriage conflicts. I am passionate about helping people to have the relationships they long for because I believe that we are relational beings that can be made whole when we have healthy connections to others.

I am passionate about helping people to have the relationships that they long for because I believe that we are relational beings that can be made whole when we have healthy connection to others.

I believe that therapy is a safe space for people to be whoever they are right now, no matter how bad they feel about themselves or their lives. It is in this place of vulnerability that we can admit our struggles, face our true selves, and then grow to become all that we are meant to be!

I believe in the inherent value of human life. No matter what your struggle, background, belief system, or things you have done, you are inherently valuable, and with me, you will find a safe place to work on yourself or your family.

Experience

I have a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Western Seminary. I am available to provide individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, child and adolescent therapy, and parent coaching in Campbell. Prior to obtaining my Master’s degree, I had been working in the mental health field as a coach for over 10 years. I also have the unique experience of obtaining an undergraduate degree in Recreation and specializing in Wilderness Therapy and Adventure Programming. I lived outside in the woods for two years, working with emotionally disturbed boys.

I have experience working with individuals, couples, children, and families in Campbell, CA. I am passionate about empowering healthy relationships between friends, lovers, and families. I take a practical and integrated approach to therapy, using skill-building interventions and techniques from science, psychology, and the Christian faith. I believe in addressing the needs of the whole person, and that requires blending different viewpoints and creating a unique approach to therapy for each individual, couple, family, or parent.

I spent my formative years living in countries in Southeast Asia, which gave me firsthand experience of living in different cultures and going through transitions and adjustments between cultures and nations. I have a personal understanding of the needs of expatriates, missionaries, and third culture kids (TCKs).

Growth and Change Counseling is a group practice offering various mental health services in Campbell. People come to us because they hear that people experience real change and growth when they come to our practice. All of our practitioners implement what we call the foundational approach to relational and emotional well-being. All of our practitioners are trained in the same foundational approach so that regardless of which therapist you end up working with, you can be confident that you are getting the same standard of care for which we have become known.

I specialize in working with individuals, couples, parents, families, teenagers, pastors and their families,  cross-cultural workers, TCKs, and Christians, but I can work with you without any difficulty if you come from a different faith or belief system. Many of the skills I use in coaching have universal application, and you too can experience improvements and significant growth in your relationships and life!

We help individuals, couples, parents, Pastors and their families, and people in cross-cultural settings work through their challenges so they can experience personal renewal and healing in their relationships (with God, family, friends, children, and other people).

We understand the unique stressors and hardships that people deal with in their relationships with family, friends, coworkers, and cross-cultural settings! Your well-being is my ultimate concern. Whether you’re an individual, a couple, or a family looking for help – our therapy and coaching sessions are designed to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and understanding environment for you to deal with whatever is on your mind and heart. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs….1 Cor 13:4-6

I am hardwired as a therapist through training and life experience. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist because I know that even the most difficult relationships can be put back together. I know because, among other reasons, I’ve been through it. I’ve been married, divorced, and widowed. I have 4 wonderful children and 7 grandchildren. In the midst of life’s suffering, I discovered joy. In the midst of relational pain, I’ve seen its beauty.

But the reason I am able to come alongside you and support your growth is that in the process I developed relational intelligence. At Growth and Change Counseling, we have a foundational process that we take couples, individuals, addicts, and parents through. This process is tailored to the situation that you are dealing with and helps you develop the relational intelligence to put your relationships and mental health back together.

Whether you experience anxiety, depression, or conflict in your marital or parent-child relationships; I can help you! I’m here to help in your journey of healing and restoration! Therapy can be that safe space you’ve been looking for in which you can openly unload your heart and experience non-judgmental support and genuine connection. Together we can explore where you currently are, what you would like your future to look like, and how we can work together to help you get there.

I know it is important for you to find a therapist you can connect and work well with. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California and Michigan. I am South African and bilingual in Afrikaans. My educational background includes a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University.

Jamula Taylor LMFT #129183

I am Jamula (Jamalah) Taylor; a woman, a mother, and a therapist. I became a therapist to help people who look like me to be okay with being vulnerable and to support their healing. I want you to know that your past doesn’t define your present or your future. It was Vivekananda who wrote, “Whatever we are now, is the result of our acts and thoughts of the past; and whatever we shall be in the future, will be the result of what we think and do now.”

I am a member of Growth and Change Counseling, offering mental health services in Campbell, CA. We understand that our mental health conditions are related to the breakdown in our relationships and that we can’t simply make depression, anxiety, or other problems go away by simply treating the symptoms. We have to get down to the roots of the problems in order to help people effectively heal. This means that “sometimes the best thing may be the hardest thing for you to do.” But it is in our discomfort that we find the strength for the greatest growth and change in our lives!

I am here to walk alongside you on your journey of healing. At Growth and Change, we have a foundational approach we take all of our clients through, regardless of which therapist you work with. It is this foundation that gives us our reputation that people experience real help real quick. There is no problem I am not willing and able to face with you. Have the courage to take the next step; remember, courage is not the absence of fear but taking action in spite of our fear. Call me, it starts with a conversation!

Have you thought “I don’t fit in” or “nobody cares what I think or listens to me!” or “Why do I stress out all the time?” I’ve been there too. It’s a struggle in the very core of your belief system, and with help, you can heal. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from, or what you believe, I can come alongside you and help you on your healing journey, not just because I know how to, but because I have also experienced the healing myself.

You matter in life because you are human and precious. I want to help you experience wholeness so that you can be satisfied in your life and confident to face any challenge and grow through it.

Therapy is in my blood. It’s something I have pursued with passion since I was a child. I take a very hands-on and eclectic approach (i.e., integrating from multiple theories and strategies to personalize to your needs).

I provide you with relational homework and skills to integrate into your life between sessions; this is where you will take what is learned in session and flesh it out in daily life. In this process, you will learn how to shape your destiny instead of being defined by your past. I am a member of Growth and Change Counseling, offering various mental health services in Campbell, CA. I integrate the Growth and Change foundational approach into our therapy sessions; it’s what gives us our reputation for meaningful results quickly.

It allows us to establish a standard of care so that you can know that regardless of which therapist you work with at Growth and Change Counseling, you are getting the same foundation that has given us our reputation for producing real change quickly and effectively! People come to us for many reasons, but they stay because they like our methods and get results. We don’t believe in endless therapy. Our goal is to get you in and out as quickly as reasonably can be done and do it in a way that hopefully you will never need to come back!

My professional experience:

I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology from San Diego State and a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Chapman University. I am a specialist with years of experience working with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and I have specialized training in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA). I also specialize in working with individuals around issues such as anxiety, depression, and anger management. I work with couples and with parents dealing with child behavioral concerns. At Growth and Change Counseling, we treat everything, and we want you to know that we have the knowledge and experience to support you.

April Silva, LMFT #142789

I am a relationships-oriented therapist aggressively committed to helping you uncover the underlying causes of anxiety and depression and support you in building the skills to increase communication, connection, and find satisfaction in your relationships. In this process, I will help you to uncover and address the underlying anger that feeds the anxiety and depression. In cases of PTSD, I will help you uncover the underlying defenses that protected you through a traumatic experience but now are interfering with your ability to move forward in intimacy.

My approach: I am an experienced specialist in trauma care, including complex trauma and dissociation, and love helping clients heal. I treat the whole person utilizing aspects of many theories and strategies. Some of the theories and strategies I like to use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), attachment theory, somatic therapy, and EMDR. Through this process together, you will learn tools and principles of life that will empower you with increased relational intelligence that will give you confidence and cultivate a renewed sense of purpose and well-being.

There is no mountain too high to be climbed, no obstacle too difficult to face. There is hope, and whatever your situation, I would be honored to face it with you.

Stephanie Hayes AMFT #145271

Hi, I’m Stephanie Hayes, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist serving Campbell CA.

In life, we sometimes find ourselves in dark and lonely tunnels, with no end in sight. I want you to know that there is hope, and I am here to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing. As a nurse who came to the therapy field through an unconventional path, I believe that some of the most profound healing experiences are not physical but psychological and relational. While physical healing relates to our body’s functioning, psychological and relational healing touches the very core of our identity, satisfaction, and fulfillment in life. Even if my body is broken, my spirit can still thrive with satisfaction and fulfillment. But if my spirit is broken, my physical health becomes far less significant. Charles Stanley once said, “It is not the trials in your life that develop or destroy you, but rather your response to those hardships.”

If your spirit is wounded, or you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, or relational challenges, I would love to come alongside you and offer support. As an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in Campbell CA, I believe that even the most broken relationships can be restored. If you are in a dark place, wondering if there is hope, wondering if redemption is possible—it is. Together, we can start to piece things back together.

Call me today so we can discuss your needs. I work with individuals, couples, and families, including parents and children. I treat anxiety, depression, addiction, sex addiction, infidelity, anger management, ADHD, ODD, Asperger’s, ASD, communication issues, and grief. I am supervised by John Mark Kane, LMFT 134414, and am a member of Growth and Change Counseling.

You can have it all: Get your parenting power back and have the relationship you always wanted with your child/children.

In our work with parents and children in Silicon Valley, we've found that supporting parents directly yields more lasting results than working with the children themselves. We recognize your significant influence in your child's life. By empowering you to address your child's needs, we foster enduring positive outcomes and nurture a more intimate parent-child relationship. Parents often find it challenging to assist their children during difficult times. We offer our expertise, training, perspective, and experience to empower you, helping you regain parental authority and fostering a healthy, fulfilling relationship with your child.

Why do you work collaboratively with parents whenever counseling children?
We value your family as the reference point for your child's mental and emotional well being. The reality is anything that goes from you to your child is more meaningful and effective than anything that goes from me to your child because you have the permanent relationship. We take an integrative approach that looks for all the ways in which we can strenthen the parent - child familial bonds as part of a total solution to addressing the child's behaviors.
Can I choose which therapist I want to work with at Growth and Change Counseling?
While we try to accomodate your preferences, it will depend on your availability and the therapist's availability. In the event it doesn't work out for you to work with the therapist of your choice, you should know that at Growth and Change Counseling you will get the same foundation that has given us our reputation for results, regardless of which therapist you work with.
How many sessions does it take for me to okay again?
Well, it depends on the situation, the issues at hand, and your recovery process. What we can tell you is that we have a foundation all of our clients go through, which takes 6-8 sessions. If you complete the foundations you will likely have everything you need to engage your recovery process, it will just be a matter of responsiblity on your end of how long it takes you to implement and internalize it. ,
Do you offer Online or Telehealth Sessions?
Yes, all of our sessions are currently offered exclusively through telehealth video.
